The West High School PTSO is an active, parent-run organization open to all parents, students and staff at West. Being involved in the PTSO is the best way for parents to stay informed about the culture and activities of West and is an ideal venue for them to share their skills and insights. The PTSO exists to improve communication and cooperation within the West High School community, to enhance the learning environment in numerous ways, and to increase community awareness of volunteer opportunities at West.
- Ongoing PTSO projects include:
- Organizing the Freshman Party
- Organizing Go-To-School-Night
- Assisting with Parent-Teacher Conferences
- Preparing the Regent Reporter (monthly school newsletter)
- Publishing the Regent Roster (student directory)
- Sponsoring various parent education programs
- Assisting with an orientation program for incoming ninth graders
- Fundraising for special projects
- Providing and serving end-of-the-year Teachers' Appreciation Luncheon
- Providing a limited number of awards to students in recognition of exceptional personal achievement
- Providing volunteers to assist at school functions
Each year, the PTSO identifies and supports special projects that enrich our school community. In addition, the PTSO provides funds for ongoing events, including Fine Arts Week, contributes to special requests, and awards two scholarships to graduating seniors, in collaboration with the Guidance Department. In order to support these programs, the PTSO relies on donations from the school community, general fundraising efforts, and other targeted fundraisers to meet specific needs. The PTSO welcomes and appreciates your financial support, as well as the gift of your time.
